117.0. "<line> Tag problems" by CASEY::BURACK (Not Fade Away) Fri Apr 21 1989 19:59

    HI,

    I use <line> tags to force text to a new line. When I run the same
    text to the bookreader the spacing is not right. It forces the text
    to a new line eventhough it could fit on the previous line.

    Is there a solution to this that will give me the correct output
    for both devices?

    Thanks,

    Ruth-Ellen

    See 'Coding Documentation Source Files for the DECwindows Bookreader'
    for cautions about the use of the <line> tag. It has *not* been
    disabled for online processing (as the <page> tag has been) because
    it can be used in circumstances where you *always* want a line break,
    no matter what the output format. The solution is to not use <line>
    to 'fix' undesirable line breaks (formatting glitches) for draft hardcopy
    output. In final production, such glitches can be fixed with
    <final_cleanup> tags (which *are* disabled for online).
