133.1Comms at the CrescentCHEST::THOMPSONWed Apr 13 1988 16:048
    When you move to the Crescent please leave all DELNI's,
    DECservers, transciever cables etc behind. All comms equipment
    at Acre Road should remain behind.

    New connections will be provided for you when you arrive at the
    Crescent.

    Yea, though the people of Acre Road were much industrious and did
    produce an abundance of wealth for The Company, yet there came a
    time when all was not well.

    And the oracle did pronounce that the time to go on a pilgrimage
    to the south was fast approaching and all the subjects of the company
    must be uprooted with their terminals and books and pens and anchovies.

    Even so there was yet little room on the discs and the pronouncment
    came that all the subjects of The Company should purge their files
    and remove all the crap that hath remained from the results of their
    industries and that crap should be discarded and become as but ether
    in the net and pass into nothingness.

    And those that failed to heed the pronouncements in time were punished
    most severely and the great diskquota beastie did byte. And there
    was much wailing and gnashing of hairy teeth as a myriad of Doom
    creatures were deleted from the ether.
133.3What about the wires mate?GROYNE::HAYESIan Hayes, DTN 830 ext 4992Thu Apr 14 1988 21:518
    Just for clarification (a.k.a. I'm too thick to understand the original
    message).

    Do I take the data cable that joins my terminal to the hole in the wall
    or not?

    Connectively yours
    Ian.

Re: Your Biblical address.

 I am unclear about roles. Is it me, you or Steve who has to part the
Red Sea or do we all have to walk on water as usual. (and can we leave
Acre road before the last plague arrives; we've had the rats, boils,
starlings, flies and coffee).
133.5RDGE00::RUSSELLOh good, not long until EOY/BOY......Tue Apr 19 1988 12:318
    Since I'm a software chap, and don't understand these hardware
    terms, is the transciever cable the one that goes from the
    ethernet connector on the micro PDP to the DELNI?

    Are these cables being provided?

    Ta, Peter.

133.6Cables to be removedNECK::THOMPSONThu Apr 21 1988 17:2022
    As I understand it we leave behind *all* cables which join terminals
    to LAT points, and all ethernet cables joining Microvax/GPX's/PDP to
    either ethernet H4000 points (Black objects, about 8"x4", make a tee
    joint in the yellow covered ethernet cable) or to DELNI's (grey
    boxes with the word DELNI written in red under the Digital logo!).

    The exceptions include cables which you've obtained from System Management,
    or before that, Joan Early, which are usually the pale grey ones
    with the Digital logo on the plug ends. Take those cables with you.

    Also take cables which join printers to terminals. They won't be
    provided at the Crescent.

    It would help if you could return any spare cables you've got to
    Wai before 29th April so that a pool of spare cables is available
    at the Cresent from day 1. At the moment that pool is very limited
    because they seem to travel in one direction only - out.

    If you've got any unused VT100's or broken terminals stacked on
    the top of cabinets etc. then you *must* make sure that they go
    to your new location.

133.7New lamps for oldRDGE28::THOMPSONFri May 13 1988 15:3410
    The last note mentioned that you should bring your VT100's with
    you to your new abode. Why, you said, should I bother lugging that
    old heap down to a posh new office where I can't even use it?

    The reason is I may be able to do an exchange for VT220/240's if you
    bring it round to my rabbit hutch.

    Unfortunately this offer doesn't apply if you left your VT100 at
    Acre Road unless you included 2 ethernet terminators with your entry
    to the 'Name that node' competition.
133.8bring out youre deadCHEST::WRIGHTHappiness is Reading in the rear view mirrorFri May 20 1988 15:205
    I brought both my VT100's down here with me, the next day they both
    disappeared! Now if I had both these and my 2 VT220's can I trade
    them all in for a GPX? :-)

133.9Football collectors cards rule OK.GROYNE::HAYESIan Hayes, DTN 830 ext 4992Wed Jun 08 1988 18:286
    I have a box full of assorted cables (basically, anything not screwed
    down came with me). Do they have any trade-in value? DO you give
    Green Shield stamps? I'll swap a Geoff Hurst, Nobby Stiles and a
    Gordon Banks for a VT340. Any takers?
