What are the chances that a 9-10 gauge (approx. 6 milimeters square) semi-'NO NAME' speaker cable (copper unknown) compare similarily to a brand-name 13 gauge (2.5 mm2) cable ? From the look of it, its hundreds of tiny wires twisted together in some 7 groups, again twisted together. From the look through the transparent coating, the tag-claim 'OFC' seems probable. Company name is TECHNOCABEL (very young, polish origin). Our local pricing: 1.3$ per meter (seems tempting!). Zygmunt.

Additional comment: I am considering setting up Bi-Wiring, and using: 1. Technocabel-thing for the kicking Bass (assumption: Bass needs low ohms, and nothing realy more), whereas 2. Use something more brand-like/higher gauge for the mid-treble, to avoid rolloff and achieve reasonable soundstage imaging (thats what you Guy's call it ?) Thanks for input, Z. |
