11.0. "Fancy Dress Hire?" by IPG::KCAMPBELL (dreaming of summer...) Thu Aug 04 1988 12:54

We've been invited to a fancy dress party. Does anyone know of a good
shop in Basingstoke/Reading where we could hire the costumes?

Thanks,

Karen

Who knows Karen well enough to say that she should be OK
going in what she wears to work? I don't so I won't. :-)

Don't know if it is a GOOD place, but try the shop next to the Theatre

If you don't mind the drive , you could try "Bewitched" in Crowthorne

Not cheap , but good choice and quality .

In the end we went to "Razzle Dazzle" (the one next to the theatre)
in Basingstoke, purely because it was the most convenient.

Their Noddy and Big Ears outfits turned out to be very good and
at #7.50 each we thought the price was reasonable. The deposit
was twice the cost of the hire but fully refundable if you don't
    mess up the costume.

    Thanks for your suggestions...

A suggestion for another time, and one I used to use is The Horseshoe
Theatre Company HQ in Cliddesden Rd. It is on the town end of the
Rd last drive on the right, big old house.

A bit of history was that this building used to be "The Shrubbery
Maternity Home" - closest you can get to being born under a gooseberry
    bush :-)

How do I know this ? I was born there ! (so were my two brothers).

Another one I noticed for the first time last Saturday was in the
card shop that's opposite WH Smith and Boots...This shop looks as
though it's recently been refurbished and the upstairs is now open.
The fancy dress hire is in the upstairs bit I think.

Does anybody have a tank camouflage net (or something similar) that I
    could borrow.

reason! 'cos I need a backdrop for a christmas play (Angel at large)
and have been told that such an unlikley item is ideal and *Really*
    provides a great effect!

    Well its worth a try!

Theres a guy in our office who works in the TA, maybe he can help.

At our stand in Milcomp this year, we had a white version of the tank netting
draped over our workstations (helping them to overheat!)

Maybe the exhibitions group still have this stuff left over.

The white version is perzactly wot i need! Where is the exhibitions
group? How do I contact them?

BTW - I don't think that it will help the group to overheat ... they are
    already doing that!

    Thanks -- Alan
