24.0. "Post office near Crescent" by SHAPES::PERKINSN () Thu Sep 01 1988 14:17

    Does anyone know of a sub-post office near to the Crescent (and the
    best place to park)? I want to buy some stamps without having to
    queue for hours in the main post office in Blazingsmoke.

    Thanks

    Ask in our post-room - I don't think he has stamps, but he will
    (for the relevant fee) put your post through the hi-tech franking
    machine....

24.2Fairfields Road Post OfficeHAMPS::NICHOLLSThu Sep 01 1988 14:5514
    The nearest sub Post Office, for future reference is in
    Fairfields Road. From the Crescent, go up to the Crest Roundabout,
    head towards town - over the next roundabout. At the Lamb Pub turn
    left into Fairfields Road and it is on the right.

      Alternatively try Brighton Hill post office no parking problems
    there.Turn left by the pub follow road right up to next r'about
    past B&Q up to next r'about,turn left into Brighton Hill.Shopping
    centre on the left about 200 yards.Only takes 2 mins to get to,
    but avoid Tuesdays & Thursdays (pensions).

      Also has Sainsbury's supermarket & good chippie etc etc.

    Richard.
24.4Take the scenic route to B.Hill P.O!FORTY2::GOMESSennen GomesThu Sep 01 1988 19:107
    From the Crescent turn left at the GOLDEN LION R'bout then take
    the 2nd turning at the next R'about (VIABLES). This is the HATCH WARREN
    ROAD. Next take the first right, "SULLIVAN ROAD", and follow that to the
    end. The shopping center/car park is on the left, with the post office
    located in the news agents.

24.5another close one...LOOKIN::DLLOYDHarry Cross for PMThu Sep 01 1988 19:4810
    Even nearer than that....

    go to the Golden Lion roundabout, go straight over (Cranbourne
    Lane ?), take the first exit left (Sheppard Road), then about
    the third turn right (signposted "Telephone>"). About 100 yds
    down there there is a group of shops, the right hand one of
    which is a sweetshop/papershop/sub post office.

24.6Even Nearer !CHEST::ALFORDNow you see it .......Fri Sep 02 1988 22:017
	The mail room in the crescent does sell stamps ....

24.7Yes, the mail room does sell stamps ...SHAPES::PERKINSNTue Sep 06 1988 22:109
    But he only has second class stamps.....

    (The above statement is based on a sample of two visits which I
    admit is not very representative).

    I tried the Brighton Hill one - quite good, free parking and a small
    queue.

    Re .8,especially when its a penny more as well,perhaps the whole
    strike was pre-arranged,knowing full well that there would be extra
    funds coming in immediately it ends.
