4021.0. "Thrilling gimmick for trade show needed" by UFHIS::BKLIMM () Wed Aug 02 1995 08:24

Hi,

on the next year CeBit - this is the worlds largest computer trade show,
700.000(!) visitor this year, large business impact in Europe - we are
planning to have a special show booth dealing with the

"advanced technical computer power from digital".

This should be something attractive both to industrial management folks and
common visitors with technical interests and show the leading edge of digitals
technology. That means that we are not(!) looking for
just-another-CAD-partner-demo-using-xy-grafic-on-zz-processor.
Bussines goal is to gain attention outside our installed base and support our
aggessive growth goals.

Question:
Does anyone - particular in the US - now somthing here which is indeed
"state of art" and nice to look to? Can either be from digital internal
(advanced technology group?), from a SW Partner, a customer willing to join us
at that event or even a commercial ad company.

Every hint, pointer or contact is welcome.

Thank's in advance,

Bernhard

Still pedaling as hard as I can... :-) Hang on... You'll get a bunch
of pretty strong hints from my Home Page, but it's not Ready for Prime
Time yet... If I could stop myself from writing fake press releases
:-) it'd be ready that much sooner...

4021.8Should I send this to you or to any of your customers?DRDAN::KALIKOWDIGITAL=DEC: ReClaim TheName&Glory!Tue Aug 29 1995 18:1572
I just sent this out to the prospects we've collected over the past
few months. I also attempted to send to the VAXmail addresses of
those in 4021.1-.6 who expressed interest. If you're one of them and
you didn't get EMail from me, please send EMail to me with another
guess at an IP-style address I can use to get to you.

If you'd like me to add the names of any prospective customers to the
EMail list that I'll use in a day or so to actually send out the
invitations, then please DON'T say so here in DECnotes... EMail me
and I'll be only too happy to oblige.

I will ask you to simplify things by forwarding my #1 message to them
yourself. You might want to defer this until I acknowledge receiving
your note requesting that their names/addresses be added. Thanks!

Initial participants will be by invitation only. This will include
both DIGITAL folk and outside customers... Only so many hours in a
day... and I'm going on vacation Friday at 5PM!

Subject: Workgroup Web Forum(tm) Kick-the-Tires demo, msg #1 of 2

Hello --

You're receiving this message, along with almost 200 other people.
I'm using the Bcc: field so you won't be bothered by seeing their
addresses.

YOUR email address is in our records either because you met me or my
colleagues at a recent convention (InterOp, Internet World, PC Expo,
NEXPO '95) or you are otherwise known to us as someone who might be
interested in learning more about a forthcoming multimedia groupware
product for the World-Wide Web: "Workgroup Web Forum(tm)" from
Digital Equipment Corporation, Maynard MA USA.

The product is now in Beta test, and will ship <=~October, 1995.

Webmasters can augment their web servers with Workgroup Web Forum(tm),
to enable them to host collaborative, asynchronous discussions on the
Internet, while the discussants use conventional, unmodified, generic
web browsers.

In just a few days, I'll be sending out a more informative -- less
mysterious, and more hospitable! -- message to your address. It will
invite you to try Workgroup Web Forum(tm), using your own web browser.
You won't have to download anything, and it's free.

If this address is incorrect and you nevertheless receive it via
forwarding, I'd appreciate a reply with a more current address, so
that the "real thing" gets to you quicker.

If there are others -- either in your organization or elsewhere -- who
you think might be interested in this product and to whom you'd like
me to send the forthcoming invitation, please reply with their EMail
addresses and a brief description of who they are, where they work,
and suchlike.

If for any reason you do NOT want to remain on this EMail list, you
have but to ask and I will promptly remove your name.

Thanks and regards,

Dan

That goes double for any others who might be interested... I'm tired
