    Did you log a 911? We see these things come through all the time from
    around the US from our local staffing manager. I don't remember seeing
    this one.

3615.6There is no longer a 911 notes file!HIGHD::FISHERVMS/Cheshire Virtual Cats!Tue Jan 24 1995 21:3517
    re .4

    There is no 911 notes file at this time. This has caused frustration
    to those consultants in the field who used to be able to find work that
    they were good fits for.

    The lack of a 911 notes file is yet another example of where we may
    have over-downsized.

    One consultant out at this site was able to get 80% utilization for a
    period of two years completely by selling himself through the 911 notes
    file. Now he is sitting, waiting for the phone to ring (and his life
    should not be as lonely as the Maytag repairman's).

    One person's dedicated time to maintain the 911 notes file is more than
    paid for by the jobs leveraged out of it by consultants and managers
    reading the notes nationwide.
3615.7Not notes; process...NEWVAX::PAVLICEKZot, the Ethical HackerWed Jan 25 1995 15:4115
    I didn't say there was a 911 notes file.

    In the Washington PSC, at least, we get these periodic 911 messages
    from our local staffing manager (Gary Crews). They appear to use a
    standard electronic form which is used by various staffing managers
    within the US geography. When Gary receives one, he tries to fill the
    position, and/or broadcasts the need to the PSC to see if anyone bites at
    it. The last 911 I remember receiving was in late December, I believe.

    If there is a designated staffing manager in your area, talk with
    him/her about the current 911 process. Otherwise, I suppose you can try
    to contact Gary Crews @COP to see if there is any way to get in the
    loop (I'm sure Gary will love me for this one! 8^).

    And to be part of the 911 broadcast storms that Gary puts forth
    makes life worth living. '^)

911s ... I've responded to a bunch of 911s by mail and by leaving phone
messages to offer my help, and no one has *ever* gotten back in touch with
me about them. I no longer take them seriously.

3615.10KNOW YOUR STAFFING MGR.GLDOA::NESBITTue Jan 31 1995 13:019
    Though we're halway through FY'95, it appears many of you have not
    gotten the word that the 911 notes file was dropped at the beginning
    of the fiscal year in favor of a designated staffing focus in
    each PSC. This focus being a Staffing Manager. You should,
    therefore, be working with your PSC Staffing Manager to determine
    and understand what assignments/engagements are available. If you
    don't know who your Staffing Manager is, contact me at
    Nesbit @OHF, DTN: 471-5565 and I
    will be happy to provide you with this data.
