3531.1One approach is queued messagingPAMSRC::STUTZMANBach's music: inevitable, yet surprisingTue Nov 29 1994 14:2123
We have a number of customers that have integrated MACs with other platforms
using DECmessageQ. Since we recently introduced a Windows Client product,
distributed queued messaging is now available on that platform as well.

One round of "good news/bad news":

Be aware that DECmessageQ is "overt" client/server...applications must be coded
to exchange messages. (i.e., this is not a transparent method of using Windows
applications from Macs or vice versa).

The good news is that DmQ is the market share leader in queued messaging
technology with a borader platform coverage than any other product.

More info: The Nov 94 issue of "Client/Server Today" magazine reviewed
messaging-oriented middleware in general and DmQ in particular. This is a
good introduction to the technology. Internally, see the file
	PAMSRC::DMQ$PUBLIC:0README.TXT
for a guide to online information.

Good luck!
