3200.0. "IBM contact please !" by ORO50::REEVES (Fire and Forget.) Thu Jun 23 1994 18:41

    Could somebody please suggest who I could contact in Digital to
    discuss in technical detail moving a IBM DB2 database to one of
    our platforms.

    I need somebody who understands SNA and DB2 as well as our product
    offering. Is anybody left out there ......

    Regards,

    Ray

    You can start with Ed Cowger at 297-7732. He is the company's

    Might try David Foster @MPO or DTN: 442-2178.

    He's our Database partner consultant here and is still on board.

    Hi

    	Call Don Maynard at the CSCMA/DB2 support. Internal support number
    is 525-7104 and just ask for him. He knows SNA and DB2. Good luck

    Re the last few replies.

    You may want to post a specific question into the SMAUG::SNAGWY
    conference which is a highly active IBM centric conference.

    We have products that manipulate DB2 tables, and we have products
    that integrate -stuff- into SNA Networks. It all depends upon
    your needs.

    We also maintain two IBM datacenters one in LKG and another in
    VBO which may be usefull to you for demo' etc.

    Peter.
3200.6Not hard, but a lot of workTROOA::MCMULLENKen McMullenFri Jun 24 1994 15:2415
    What do you mean by "move the database". Are you re-deploying the
    database or do you just want access to the data in DB2.

    If you are creating a new database on the DEC platform:

    		- unload the DB2 tables into flat files
    		- bring the flat files to the DEC platform (tape, across
  		  a network, etc)
    		- you might have to filter the file to change any data into
    		  a datatype that is supported by your new database.
    		- load the data

3200.7DB2 -> Rdb a SpecialtyNOVA::EBAUERMon Jun 27 1994 20:138
    Ray,

    If what you wnat to do is port a DB2 database to DEC Rdb on OpenVMS VAX
    or AXP, we have a good track record for these things in the Database
    Systems Engineering Consulting Group. Give me a call at 203/655-9157
    (I telecommute these days) or send mail to NOVA::EBAUER.
