3178.0. "Discount Tickets Gone" by POWDML::DERBY (AIDS Walks: Bos-6/5/94;Wor-6/12/94) Thu Jun 16 1994 19:44

From LIVEWIRE

Discount ticket program ends June 30

Digital's Human Resource Organization has decided to end the
Employee Activities discount ticket program effective June 30.
The decision was made after careful review of the allocation of
its resources in light of the company's challenge to achieve
   profitability.
Ticket requests received after June 17 will be returned to the
sender. All requests received up to June 17 will be filled on a
   first-come, first-served basis.
This decision affects all of Employee Activities' discount
programs, including theater and museum tickets, the Disney amusement
parks, Busch Gardens and related discount cards, or similar special
   programs and offerings.

What's this gonna save us, one employee's salary? We don't pay
anything for most of these discounts; they're promotions on the part of
    the business giving them out.

I imagine the cost is the overhead of administering such programs.

It certainly can't be the cost of putting up the announcement posters in a
timely fashion. When the posters in Maynard first went up in May (the ones
about the Museum of Science, etc.), I checked VTX, only to find out that the
tickets were gone *2 weeks prior*!. So I signed up with ICS::ACTIVITIES to
try to get the news sooner.

Guess that's one mailing list I can now drop.

With all the employees working double-time and overtime to make up for
