3154.0. "Current and former Digital employees keeping in touch" by NPSS::BRANAM (Steve, Network Product Support) Wed Jun 08 1994 16:56

Well, before the rest of us get scattered to the wind, I wanted to put
the word out for people keeping in touch via America Online (maybe
somebody who uses CompuServe and the other services could do the same
there). We all have a lot of friends and colleagues either going or
staying behind. We were once all part of the Digital family. AOL gives
us a way to keep together, much like Notes and Mail have at Digital. A
lot of people have already joined AOL; I would like to see us get
    together.

I have informally started a chat room on AOL called "DECpeople". This is
currently a "member" room as opposed to a permanent room, which means
that if no one is in the room yet, it does not exist. The first person
to go there creates it. You can find it by clicking on List Rooms from
the chat window, then Available Rooms. Or you can Create Room if you
    don't see it.

I am checking on creating a permanent DECpeople forum with message board
and chat room. These are meant for all current and former Digital
employees. Whatever your feelings toward the company may be, you should
keep in touch with the people with whom you have worked side by side.
The messages I see in Notes show that we are concerned about each other
and want to help each other. This gives us all a gathering place. We can
exchange tips on jobs and the job market, pass resumes around, exchange
mailing lists, and shoot the breeze. So tell your friends who are still
here or have left. Just remember that AOL and the other services are
public places, so avoid discussion of anything that might be considered
    Digital internal information.

    See you online!
    Steve Branam
    SBranam@aol.com or DECperson@aol.com

P.S. - I am compiling a mailing list of AOL screen names that I find in
notes. Send me mail on AOL if you want me to add your name.

Any chance of setting something up on CompuServe ? Those of us
outside the USA would find it hard (and VERY expensive!) to access AOL.

How's about we just starting entering our non-Digital internet
    addresses here?
3154.3AXEL::FOLEYRebel without a ClueWed Jun 08 1994 21:309

I think WHOAREYOU would be a better place to leave ones calling
card. Of course, it should probably be renamed to WHOWEREYOU.

WHOAREYOU is a notesfile for introducing yourself to the network
	community.

And she is alive and well and enjoying life, I saw her and her husband last
night and she was glad to hear that people still remember her. She still
really really misses notes, especially UFO's

Tell her that the UFO notes file misses her, too.
