Dear Friends;

	I am taking the early retirement package offer by DEC. It has
been interesting working here for the past ten years but I think it is
time to move on. This has been the longest that I have ever worked for
any company. The funny thing is that I started my career in this very
same building at 200 Forest Street when I got out of college. At that
time I worked for RCA and I was the first occupant in this building.

    Good bye, Arnie, and best of luck. So, the rumor of a new SERP is
    confirmed?

    There's a provision in the standard pension for retiring early on a
    reduced pension -- I think it's at 59 or something like that, but I
    don't have the paperwork in front of me so don't quote me on it.

3103.5SERP and Early Retirement; not the sameCTHQ::COADYTue May 24 1994 18:074

    Early Retirement and SPECIAL early retirement (SERP) are not the same.
    Anyone over a certain age (55 I thought ) and with a certain number of
    years service can retire.
3103.6 Over here on the right side of the pond .... SUBURB::POWELLMNostalgia isn't what it used to be!Wed May 25 1994 08:429

    	We would lose 4% of our predicted pension at age 60 for each year
    before that, that we take pension. So, if you go onto pension at age
    55, you would lose 20% of your pension that was predicted for you if
    you had worked to age 60 with DIGITAL (in Burgundy with round dots!).

    	Hope that helps.
