| Automated DEC Stock Information Service, Version V1.4 (07-Aug-1992)
==========================================================================
NOTE: new or changed information is marked by '|'
| This is an automated service provided by Anton J. Kuchelmeister @UFC
| and by the facilities of Digital Equipment Corporation. We were two
| people, before to setup and maintain this service - the other contributor,
| Arthur M. Coucouvitis, has been given the TFSO...
This service allows you to get DEC stock information via ordinary mail.
No stock other than DEC, Digital Equipment Corporation, is covered.
The Digital stock data originate from the Corporate VTX LIVEWIRE
database. The data then is prepared, value added and represented, and
made available for free and on a voluntary basis. This service is
complementary to the VTX LIVEWIRE data which is currently short
term oriented and does not offer graphical representation.
The present service relies on the VTX LIVEWIRE data, and normally is
updated every few days.
To use this service, send a mail message to eicmfg::stock. In
the "Subj.:" field, request the type of service you wish (for details,
please see below). The message body is ignored (it is not expected and
will not be read). The information you request will be sent back to you
normally within half an hour, assuming network availability.
For example: $ mail/subj="stock send oct" nl: eicmfg::stock
The DEC stock data are available in two formats:
a.) Text Files
The text files contain, in a tabular form, for each trading day
the high, low, closing stock price, and the volume (the number
of shares) traded of DEC stock at the New York Stock Exchange
(Wallstreet).
The text files are in plain ASCII format.
Text files exist for each of the last 12 months,
and for each year back to 1982 (which is incomplete).
b.) Charts
The charts are graphical representations of the DEC stock
behaviour over time. For each trading day, the high, low and
close values, as well as the day's volume are represented.
Additionally, two moving average graphs are shown as well:
the past 90 days, and the past 200 days moving averages.
The charts are in ReGIS format. They may be TYPEd at a VT240,
VT330, or a work station terminal, or printed on a printer which
can understand the ReGIS format, such as LA50, or LPS40. The
print command for the LPS40 requires the following qualifier:
/param=(data=regis,page_orient=landscape)
Charts exist for the past 6 months, for the past 2, 5, 10
years, one overall chart going back to year 1976 and one-year
charts for 1986 through 1991.
The following services are available:
