Monday 27 December may be a holiday wherever DPDMAI:: is, but it isn't
a holiday here, nor is Friday 31 December.

Whereas we do get 14 July, so long as that's not a Saturday or Sunday.

There are no legal requirements for holidays over the next few
weeks in France, but a DEC memo says that individual managers have
discretion to let their staff leave early this afternoon.

On the other hand, Valbonne had a 24*7 support group the last time
the 1-Jan occurred on a Sunday, and the law said rather literally,
double pay for Sundays, and double pay for national holidays. Those
people who worked that day were paid *4 I am told.
