2774.0. "PACIFIC RIM TELECOM?" by GLDOA::DBOSAK (The Street Peddler) Fri Nov 12 1993 12:00

I'm looking for information on PACIFIC RIM Telecommunications
information -- Can someone point me in the right direction?

I have a customer starting to expand their Pacific Rim business
activities and they need to cost-effectively network their various
    sites.

They have business locations in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore,
    Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

I need to submit various telecom options and system configs. Any
suggestions as to where I start my information gathering?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Regards,

    Dennis

Digital MCS services all those areas. Why not start with them and see
if they can point you to the telecom solutions they know about.

    Dennis,
Need to know more about the requirements. Bandwith? Real time?

Singapore has excellent telecoms, Hong Kong and Australia are also very
good. HK and Aus are the cheapest. Dunno about New Zealand. Malaysia
is reasonable. The typical net would be either US to HK to SING to
Malaysia and US to Oz. I assume NZ to Oz as well. Or US to Sing and
NZ to OZ, OZ to SING, and HK to SING. Get CHoy to find out the Sing to
OZ, HK and US and Malaysia (KL or Penang?). I can find out the HK to
SING, Malaysia and US tariffs is you tell me what kind of line you
    want.

Packet (X.25) is also possible, depending again on your customers
    needs.

The suggestion to talk to MCS is good. Navin Mehta in Hong Kong is the
Asia region Network Integration Services manager, I don;t know his
counterpart in SPR (Oz, NZ, PNG and Fiji)

Allan Mason @SNO is the internal IM&T telecoms manager for SPR (Australia
and New Zealand). He would know who to contact.
