2623.0. "COMPASS daily and monthly calendars" by QTRDEC::MARCIL () Wed Aug 18 1993 17:45

I used to use the COMPASS daily and monthly calendars, but they are no longer
available. I had heard there were substitutes online, but could never find
them. Since I had wanted to learn more about DECWrite anyway, I used this
opportunity to fill a learning and use need and made up substitute daily and
monthly calendars.

You can print a copy of these if you want by copying the postscript files from
VMS to your account with the command.

	$copy QTRDEC::QTRDEC$DKB200:[CALENDARS]*.PS *

(the "*.PS" will pull all months shown below. Specify more explicitly if
you only want some.)

and printing them (then deleting them) with the command

	$print/que=???? /PARAM=(SIDES=TWO_SIDED_SIMPLEX) CALENDAR_DAY*.PS/delete
		     ^
		     +--- INSURE A POSTSCRIPT QUEUE

The "two sided" parameter assumes you have a printer that does this.

I prefer months one sided

	$print/que=????/PARAM=(SIDES=ONE_SIDED_SIMPLEX) -
						CALENDAR_MONTHS*.PS/delete

    thanks. it's like riding a bike... once a teckie....

    DECWrite started out looking a bit obtuse, but it's really quite a nice
    product. On the other hand, MS Word starts out looking straight
    forward and chokes.
2623.5.ps files > 13K blocksQTRDEC::MARCILWed Aug 25 1993 18:273
    Also beware if you pull all the postscript files at once.

    they total over 13K blocks.
2623.6Just a matter of time...QUARK::LIONELFree advice is worth every centWed Aug 25 1993 21:295
Oh oh - how soon are we going to see a memo circulated which says that
"Corporate" wants to forbid copying of these calendars? Quick - form a
task force!

2623.7I got 'em at Spag'sXLIB::SCHAFERMark Schafer, Development AssistanceThu Aug 26 1993 13:247
    well, maybe not a task force, but a good cost-benefit justification can
    probably be made for supporting these files on the network. During the
    office-supplies freeze, I got BJ's permission to buy "week at-a-glance"
    planners for our group. It cost about $100. I don't know how much it
    would cost to print&copy these files, though...

2623.11This is howGENRAL::KILGORECherokee and Proud of It!Thu Aug 26 1993 19:108
copy QTRDEC::QTRDEC$DKB200:[CALENDARS]CALENDAR_MONTHS_93_94.PS *

This file is 786 blocks. The other average closer to 1K each.

You can do a dir/size QTRDEC::QTRDEC$DKB200:[CALENDARS] and see the size
of the files yourself.

2623.13Are the files still available?PATE::JULIENThu Sep 02 1993 17:3210
    I was able to copy over CALENDAR_DAY_SEP_93.PS a couple of days ago, I
    tried for the rest today and get the error:

             RMS-E-FND, ACP file of directory lookup failed
             SYSTEM-F-INVLOGIN, login information invalid at remote node

    Has the protection on these files changed, or am I doing something
    wrong with: COPY QTRDEC::QTRDEC$DKB200:[CALENDARS]*.PS *.*

    Any Ideas?

2623.16Are these still available?DNEAST::WIGHT_BRIANTue May 24 1994 13:319
Hi folks;

	I have used these sheets and they are great. Unfortunately the system
I kept these on cannot restore my directory from the backup. Are these files
still available? I have tried QTRDEC but it complains about no such file.

		Any information would be appreaciated.
