2306.0. "DEC Rep: Sony needed" by LAOTZU::KELLY () Mon Jan 04 1993 20:26

Greetings,

This may not be the appropriate place to post this but I'm
at a loss as to where to ask this question.

I run the Artificial Life and Virtual Reality Applications group in LMO2.
We are interested in using a new Sony product currently being test marketed
called the Visitron. We contacted the Sony Medical Systems group to try to get
one (it's not an official product yet) but they told us to work through the DEC
purchasing rep who buys all the VDT monitors sold under the DEC name.

Anyone know who the DEC Purchasing rep for Sony might be? Anyone
know of a report anywhere that lists Digits by their job title?

Any help appreciated. Thanks kindly,

Dikk Kelly

A quick look at the option module list. for a varient of the VRt19
which is a sony triniton monitor.
It lists the Product Manager as James R Becker DTN 223 4651. He should
know who the purchasing rep is...

Thanks very kindly to the folks who've responded to my note. I've
gotten half a dozen replies (all with different names suggested!).
    I'll try them all.

Once we get the Visitron to work with, you're all certainly invited
to come try out the Virtual Reality applications I've built using the
    Visitron as the headmounted display.

    Very appreciatively,

    Re/ .0, .2:

I suspect what you're referring to is the Visortron, not Visitron.
It's basically like an electronic visor, a small head-mounted display.

Re .2: Please tell us when this system is ready for demos. I went to the DEC-
World Employee Day and wanted to see the Virtual Reality (VR) demo, but the
line was too long.
I'm glad to hear that Digital is involved in VR. This is fascinating stuff,
and also sounds profitable.
