2168.0. "Need background music" by SA1794::CHUNGH (Henry Chung @ SPO) Sat Oct 17 1992 14:01

Hi,
I am looking for some audio music clips for a PC training video
tape that we are making. What I need is some simple background
music about 30 second long. Due to copyright and our tight
budget, I can only use music clips that are royalty free or
owned by Digital. Who should I contact in Digital for
    something like this ?

    Thanks,

    /Henry

I'd snoop around in COMMUSIC. They (we) have generated several tapes
of music over the past few years and I'm certain folks there would love
to get more exposure. Some music I did once made it to a Digital
training video in a similar situation.

Walk (or drive) down to the local Egghead or CompUSA and pick up
Wired for Sound, Sound FX, or any of about 10 other packages. The
prices range from $9.95 to $69.95 and the .WAV and MIDI music clips
in them are royalty-free according to the licensing statements.

If you are looking for recorded music as opposed to digitized music,
then you might try an educational or training supply house. I do
remember seeing albums (a few years ago) of elevator-style music
that were for people doing slide shows and instructional tapes.

Someone named Jact Hart produced a CD of all-original music for the
last DECworld. IT was done by and for DIGITAL. I don't know where to
reach him or the exact name of his dept ... check ELF, I guess!

There's a CD put out by the XMedia folks that has

    a) DECaudio sample files in .AU format for the various XMedia tools that
    support this format

    b) the same sounds in standard CD audio format

    contact Nina Price.

It wasn't done by DEC. It was done by the Vastek Group and yes it is
    pretty good.

Jack didn't just compose the music for the Digital Audio Logo (played
at DECWORLD), he played alot of it! I would think that the demo CD
might be available through the Digital Corp. Video/Photo Library. Try
Nancy Strader @MRO and ask her if the DECWORLD '92 Audio cd is
    available.
