2118.0. "How many are we?" by FNOPST::MAINST::RAJALA (Never Take The Second Best) Fri Sep 18 1992 19:02

Does anyone know how many people are there in DEC nowadays?

Or does anybody know how and where you can get that information?

I would approciate any information of that.

Kind of a meaningless number since it is shrinking so fast with no
    bottom in sight!!!

With the publication of the Q1 results next month, I'd expect to
see the first realistic count of downsizing since Q4. I doubt we'll
see numbers accumulated from other sources before then.

Last count I heard was 103,000 and dropping pretty darn fast! :^)

A friend saw a restricted memo stating we have downsized 13,000 people
in this quarter only, so far, with several thousand more to go before
Q2. If so, it's being done VERY quietly. From what I hear and see
(in these files, as elsewhere) there is evidence to support that rate
of decline of the population. In particular, notice seems to be
standardizing at about 1 week for those affected. H-m-m-m!

re.5 Well, reading several conferences as I do, it sure seems
that a day doesn't go by without an 'adios' note from somebody.
Gets so Notes isn't much fun anymore...

    today's boston globe says 113,000 and by fy 94 100,000, dec's
lowest population (100k) in five years. no, wait, everytime
i see anything written about the dec population the word
"approximatly" precedes it. i guess nobody really knows...
