2092.0. "info on DEC band (musical) needed" by ICS::BEAN (Attila the Hun was a LIBERAL!) Tue Sep 08 1992 17:08

Just got a telephone call from a (non-DEC) friend inquiring about
whether Digital still has a band (as in music) in the Greater Maynard
    Area.

If anyone knows if the DECband (?) still exists and whether the band is
available for performances, will you please mail your info to me
(ICS::BEAN) or call Mr. Norm Buerkland at (508)369-9103.

    thanks

Yeah, the DECband is practicing out on the fan tail. Their best song is
"Nearer my god to Thee". A litle gallows humor.

If it hasn't been disbanded. :-)

2092.3Still alive 'n' kickin' - or swingin'BNCHMK::SALOKYWed Sep 09 1992 01:0716
The DECbigband is alive and well - on our 18th year of being together.
We rehearse every Wednesday night at PKO3 and gig about every other
month in the Greater Maynard Area. Next gig is at the Nashua Country
Club this coming Saturday, 12-SEP-1992. True 'big band'
instrumentation: 5 saxes, 4 'bones, 4 trumpets, drummer, bass, guitar,
piabo, and vocalist(s). Gigs range anywhere from charity/non-profit
dinner dances to 'commercialized' stuff. Music ranges from beebop and
swing of '30s/'40s up through all of the standard Basie, Ellington,
etc. charts to more modern Kenton, Nestico, etc.

For more info call or write John Kaufmann @MRO (FSOA::KAUFMANN) - we
have our own conference --> 25703::DECBIGBAND.

Or, stop by PKO3 on Wednesday night.

    Another question:

Are there any recordings available (LP, CD) from the DEC band
    	which we could purchase?

Maybe you should redesign the band to be 1 male lead vocal and several
beautiful women who have their hair in a bun and wear black miniskirts?
