| That is correct the May directory has been postponed. The next
directory is scheduled to be published in November, but then who knows?
This directly effects my group, as I manage the telephone operators at
the Mill and they depend on that updated info. Not so much for the
employee DTN's but for the department listings in the back of the book.
Also we have found that for at least a couple of months after the
directory is published the call volume from employees decreases which
allows the operators more time to be avaialble to handle the calls from
external customers, potential revenue generating calls.
But then, noone asked for my opinion on whether it should be printed or
not!

| I got mail on this. I assumed most people did. It's a cost cutting
measure.
RE: .2 People often forget about that sort of thing. I wish that sort
of stuff was included in ELF. I doubt there is a technology reason why
it can't be.

There may not be anyone left to answer the phones.
Seriously, I can see why they may do away with Hardcopy
versions of the DTN phone book. However, there should be
an on-line replacement of some kind. ELF sure isn't it
and as stated by Janet doesn't fulfil everyones needs.

ELF is all fine and dandy, but it gets a bit spooky when you see
a NOTES entry or some sort of electronic mail from a facility's TLA
that you've never heard of and can't look up.
And, then some of us have to do an rlogin to a VMS node just to
use VTX ELF because it's not directly supported on non-OVMS platforms
as yet...

MTS codes - several ways to get them, some actually "current"! :-)
The other thing the phone book had was the "coupon"/instructions
for changing your DTN, and that's being worked, too.
re: .13 rlogin
A small plug/fact correction....
With the current release of VTX, you get
o New clients on multiple platforms:
VMS Character Cell
Ultrix Character Cell
DOS Character Cell
MS-WINDOWS
Motif (VMS and ULTRIX)
o Customizable options including keypad mappings. This can be
done on a system wide or per user basis.
o "Point and click" on menu choices for windowed systems
and DOS systems.
o Improved character cell interface using stripmenus, dialogue
boxes and command line and form field editing.
o Internet communications between VMS and Ultrix Clients and VTX
servers.
The VMS kit uses standard VMS install. If you choose to install the
complete kit, there will be a reference directory created for the ULTRIX
and DOS kits. See the installation guide for more details.
The ULTRIX kits are setld(able). Use FTSV on VMS, dcp -i or ftp (in
binary mode) on ULTRIX to copy the files to preserve the integrity of
the tar files.
The DOS Kit should be copied to a directory on your PC, then type
INSTALL to run the installaion.

| The calendar in PostScript a couple of replies ago only shows Christmas and
New Year's Day as holidays. Either we have many fewer holidays, or this was
the international version and doesn't show any country-specific holidays.
Does anyone have a more complete one? (I'd like the US calendar.)

As we are an International Company, and the whole company uses the fiscal
calendar, I deliberately only put in the Christmas/New Year holidays. It's not
that difficult to patch in your local/country holidays.
The fiscal calendar is not issued in Postscript. It's something I usually do
around June as I think that this is the best way to get the Fiscal Calendar
spread around the company, after all, we do have the most extensive networks
and having an on-line version is logical :-)
If you want a US version, you will probably have to create your own.

If you don't want all of VTX just to access ELF from
ULTRIX, see:

| You can find an on-line version of the fiscal calendar for viewing in
VTX AMTABLES, option 10. This shows the US holiday's also.
To get a copy of the postscript file go into VTX AMTABLES, option 8.
The report name is FISCAL.093 and you specify which account to have it mailed
to.

Just to be picky: the digital logo at the bottom of the calendar
is an illegal log. It should not be used. Use the correct logo,
which is unique and not a typeface as was used on the calendar.

52 seven-day weeks is only 364 days. When they're a whole week behind,
they throw in an extra week at the end of the year.
