1552.0. "Management and Layoffs" by ALIEN::EDP (Always mount a scratch monkey.) Tue Aug 13 1991 11:11

Maybe I have missed this information . . . but a question I have and
that I have heard commonly is: How is management being affected by the
layoffs? How many managers have been laid off, at what levels? Are
they represented in the layoffs proportionately to their numbers in the
company, or under- or over-represented? Is the number of levels of
    management being reduced anywhere?

To be fair, I should also admit that there has been a significant consolidation
of the small groups (less than 10 people) into larger groups and a movement of
the unneeded supervisors and managers to newly created individual contributor
positions. It appears that most of these new positions are benificial. Time
will tell...

I heard from a manager at the CXO manufacturing site that
other managers over there know their jobs have been eliminated
and are scurrying to find other alternatives to the package
-- if they don't want to get the package.
