1376.0. "Were we forgotten (Stock Statement of Ownership??)" by CHOWDA::GLICKMAN (writing from Newport,RI) Mon Feb 18 1991 14:55

Seems like several of my co-workers and myself did not receive our
Statement of Ownership for the stock we bought on November 30, 1990
from the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Just seems weird. This is
in the Providence, RI office. Any comments!

And we tried calling Investors Services but we never get a person
to talk to (only the touch tone)

    Appreciating any response!

    Thanks,

I didn't receive a statement either. I work out of Stow Ma. Perhaps
Investor services is trying to save money on postage? ;-)

Both my and my husband's ESPP paperwork for the last ESPP period
(December) showed up this past Saturday (February 16th) - they must
have just been real slow in getting the info out this time!

At a recent group meeting, another member of the cost center
said that he had called Investor Services about not receiving
a statement. He was told that the folks handling the statement
distribution had not done a very good job of it. Oh, and if you
want a statement, just call the touch tone system and order it.
But are you going to send out replacement statements? No. Are
you going to tell anyone that they might want to request a
	statement? No.

I called the touch tone system, ordered a statement, and got it
	within a couple days.

Well that's just peachy. Investor Services decides to withhold
sending us the statement till we request it, but doesn't inform
us of the change in policy?

I never rec'd my statement; but I figured it was because I'd
moved and the new address hadn't been entered into their system.

    Thanks for the info!

Re .6:

The way I read the previous statements was that they made a mistake
and did not plan/could not figure out how to fix the problem at the moment.
That does not immediatly imply that they have changed the policy with regard
to sending out statements. If they do change the policy, they're going to
have to reissue the stock plan prospectus since it says that statements will
    be 'furnished' automaticly. (Question 19.)

It does seem to have been a rather massive error. I've seen at least
a half dozen reports of this problem and have not gotten a statement yet.
I have used the phone to request a statement. Has anyone received a
statement WITHOUT specifically asking for one?

	<High Flame Warning!!>

Well I for one think that the 'error' with the last stock
statement distribution, as well as the attitude of Investor
'Services' concerning the error, coupled with their delay in
sending out the last Save statements is indicative of a VERY
SLOPPY organization. I am totally dissatisfied with this type
of service. Am I wrong here ? Does anybody else agree. Is there
anything that can be done about this ? By the way .. I didn't
get my Save statement until last night and am still waiting for
my stock ownership statement. I sure hope that Digital does not
treat the rest of there customers the same way .. but I already know
	- from first hand experience - that they do! Prehaps what is needed
	is a little 'restructuring'!!

My husband works in Printing and Circulation Services and his group
receives the tapes from Investor Services. He did confirm that
they received the tape (whatever was on it) and the did mail out
the ownership forms, so lots of people should have gotten them but
there is no way for them to know if any were missing.

RE: .15

I just tried that and it didn't work for me. I dialed DTN 223-6000 and got
the Investor Services DECtalk machine, which recited the menu for me. I
pressed 2 # and DECtalk said to please hold. A few seconds later, there was
one ring, followed by an extremely loud burst of static.

Gee, where'd that number come from? I used the one on my (year-old)
statement, 223-9357, and it worked fine. [Well, I think it did; we'll
have to see if the statement ever shows up.]

I haven't gotten my statement for the last two 'buys'.

I called the first time and talked to a 'human', who sent it out
right away. The second time I called 223-6000 and the computer mailed
    it right out to me.

I called the number in the previous note the other day.
The statement was in the mail box the following day at
    10 am.

Is that a "real person" or a product like DecVoice that talks
on the other end of the line. I had a difficult time trying
to listen through the "foreign accent".

RE: .22

The voice on the other end is a DECtalk machine.

I finally got through and received my statement in the mail the next business
day. Provided that their DECtalk is connected properly, the system works
really well.

That is DECtalk, but it sure sounds like the TI voice that's been
around for years in the Speak n' Spel machines, TI994A computers, etc.
The voice is fully programable and with a lot of patience and practice,
it can be made to imitate almost anyones voice. TI must have done
alright with that product, I have heard it in many places, especially
in applications where they want a "computer" sounding voice.

So did I. At the time I thought what a waste of paper/postage/etc. But this
must have been a royal SNAFU for all this mess to happen.
