The owner of the complex declined comment but said he will make
    an announcement later.

Recently Digital had a sort of "job fair" in Athol,
trying to recruit workers from there. I heard that practically
nobody showed up. Strange...considering that Athol is cited
in a national economics textbook as being a "strong bastion of
hard core unemployed" I think DEC is smarter than to even
    consider locating there. Consder this:

    OLd mill building? :^(

    Distance from RT2? :^(

    Skilled Workers? :^(

    STrong Union mentality? :^(

     (thats what drove out Litton)

    Helpful town officials? :^( :^(

I think DEC just needed a place to store some excess junk and
    some old trailers.

    FWIW

It doesn't sound strange to me, considering that the recruiters were pro-
bably recruiting for plants 40+ miles from Athol. Even people who are des-
perate for work might not want to take on that kind of commuting.
Sounds like the DEC move to Athol was a false alarm, unfortunately.
