330.0. "Outside solicitation of DEC departments" by DSSDEV::EPPES (Dignity, always dignity) Wed Jun 17 1987 21:35

Suppose you have a friend or relative who has a small business and
who is interested in contacting a department at DEC to see whether
they'd be interested in a product or service offered by the person's
business. Is it kosher to give your friend/relative addresses and
phone numbers of departments that seem appropriate for the service
or product? I assume you would get these addresses and phone numbers
from the company phone book, which is clearly marked "Company Confidential"
and "Internal Use Only." The product/service offered by the friend
or relative has nothing to do with computers.

In addition to the question about kosherness (?), is DEC even likely
to respond to such a solicitation? (i.e. how much hope of success
would the friend/relative have?)

Digital publishes a small guide to selling to DEC. You might just
want to get your hands on that. It includes contact names and numbers.

Why not contact the department yourself and find out either if they'd
be interested or if they'd mind if you gave out the information?

RE .1 -- How does one get hold of that book?

RE .2 -- I thought of that, and may just do it...
