HELLO PEOPLE,
FT3000 systems
Please be aware the FT3000 is NOT 'only Q-bus based' in fact it DOESN'T
have a Q-bus in it. What it does use is the CVAX chip set which is
now superseded, due to the introduction of the VAX4000 using the RIGEL
chip set. CVAX is the chip set used on the MAYFAIR series (uVAX3000).
The people whom are level two trained on this product are BRIAN Lindley
(SPELT WITH A BRAIN)and John Strahorn. (Who is John Northam ? -Whoever
he is he's not trained on the ft3000).
Bye John

PRODUCT NAME: VAX3000ft Ref: UKapn/tp/01-Aug-90
REVISION B
OTHER NAME: CIRRUS
PASS NR: 5377
FCS: July-1990
DESCRIPTION: Fault tolerant, VAX system targeted at applications
requiring very high reliability and availability.
CIRRUS will allow DIGITAL to enter the fast growing fault
tolerant market from two different directions. 1) will
act as a very reliable, front-end processor which will
leverage sales of high availability VAXcluster systems.
2) will enable DIGITAL to compete directly in the low to
mid-range segment of the standalone fault tolerant system
market.
This system it is hardware intensive fault-tolerant
architecture. It offers a high level of data and process
integrity. Subsystems are fully self-checking and
isolate faults, preventing them from corrupting data.
The system provides for automatic, transparent and
instantaneous failover without loss of performance and without
user intervention. Layered software and application software
that run on current VAX systems will run on Cirrus without
change. Cirrus is targeted at low-end to mid-range
fault-tolerant applications.
LOGISTICS: One full spares kit available in the UK. A second spares
Kit is currently being negotiated. It is intended that
the spares kit will be available from the closest Logistics
Branch in relation to the customer site.
VOLUME: UK Volumes calculated as 1/3 of European numbers.
