We are extending the special allowances on VMS user licences for targeted

                MicroVAX 3400

                MicroVAX 3900

To qualify the following must apply:
-----------------------------------

1) These are for new orders only, up until the end of Q2 FY'90.

2) Distributors will receive the allowance for "sales outs" to the white space
   only.

3) Administrators, please use Allowance Code 50.

==========================================================

MIRA High Availability MicroVAX and PDP systems can be ordered in non-standard

RA70 type storage devices.

The process is easy, simply complete an RFQ form and send it to:

Your request will be acknowledged within 24 Hours.

If you have any difficulties in completing the RFQ form, then our CSS SWAS

you.

They can be contacted as follows:

PCLAN/ Server 3100
==================

The PCLAN/Server 3100 is a VAXserver 3100 based system packaged to provide a
complete integration solution as a mid-range PC LAN server to personal
computers. The packaging includes all the necessary hardware, server
licence, software and documentation in one order number. Client licences
and Ethernet controllers can be ordered per PC as needed.

The LAN versions provide application, file, print and mail services to local
work groups of personal computers. These work groups can be linked together to
access other information processing equipment in an extended Local Area
Network.

The PCLAN/Server can be ordered packaged for WAN capability for SNA, DECnet WAN
or P.S.I./X.25 to meet a variety of branch or remote office configurations.

For more details please refer to the article in the July 1989 edition of Sales
Update Europe, and to VTX.

Please note that the PCLAN/Server 3100 part numbers have been amended as
follows:

SIFT NO: 820

SUBJECT: CPU Upgrades/ Mandatory Returns

AUDIENCE: All Sales/ CAS

ORIGINATOR: Mike Barthram/ CPU Upgrades Merchandising

Many of the recent board upgrade programmes specify that the old CPU modules
must be returned, and their value was taken into account when the price of the
upgrade was calculated.

Failure to return these parts will result in an additional charge being made.

The process for Mandatory Returns is shown in the VAXupgrades Migration
Handbook, and defined in the CAS Policies and Procedures Manual.

Leaving these parts on site could result in them falling into the hands of
Brokers, System Integrators, and so on, and so future sales could be affected.

Recent specific programmes affected by the above are:

1. VAX 6200 to VAX 6300 upgrade special offer (now finished).

2. MicroVAX and VAX server 3500/3600 to MicroVAX and VAXserver 3800/3900
    upgrade special offer (now finished).

3. VAX 6200 and VAX 6300 to VAX 6000-400 Upgrade special offer.

Many other upgrade programmes require mandatory returns; please check your
copy of the VAXupgrades Migration Handbook for details.

o the benefits of a distributed style of computing vs centralised approach.
o the Digital Advantage - the reasons why they should invest with us.

Benefits to you
---------------

The event will provide concise and practical information, presented in a
logical and direct manner so that you will be better able to

o convince your customers to invest in IT.

you differentiate Digital from the competition.

Professional sales tools along with a 'where to go for additional

SUBJECT: MICROVAX 3100 and DSH-32 ON HOLD

        AUDIENCE: All Sales/CAS

        ORIGINATOR: Charles Monk/Product Marketing

Digital failed to gain BT approval for the DSH-32 on the MicroVAX 3100. The
DSH-32 provides an additional 8 async lines and synchronous connection to
X.25 and SNA. Thus all MicroVAX 3100 systems with the integral DSH-32 are
currently on hold.

This is a local UK problem. All other European PTT authorities have given
approval. Engineering is doing everything possible to solve the problem but
it could be December before we reach formal agreement with BT.

There are a number of actions under consideration to minimise the damage to
the UK business and these will be communicated to you once agreement has
hopefully been reached with manufacturing.

SIFT NO: 863

SUBJECT: Message Router FAX: Correction to October Info'90

AUDIENCE: All Sales/ SWAS

ORIGINATOR: Jacky Rix-Brown/ Product Marketing

In Information '90 Issue 2, October 1989, Message Router FAX was listed in
error as a 10th October product announcement.

Please note that Message Router FAX has in fact been neither Product nor
Programme announced.

On no account should any reference be made to Message Router FAX to anyone
outside Digital without cover of a PID agreement. Even under PID we cannot
yet say anything of significance about potential connection between FAX and
our Message Router.
