792.0. "Mirroring an RZ28D with an RZ28M-vz" by SALEM::HARRIS_M () Thu May 08 1997 14:50

    Hi,

     I've come across a problem trying to mirror an RZ28d with an RZ28M-vz
    error is this:

      Volrootmir -a rz10  (is an rz28m-vz)

    ERROR: Disk rz0 is an rz28d type device while
           disk rz10 is an rz28m type device both
           disks must be of the same type.

     Has anyone seen this before?

    				Thanks,

    				Matt.

    Ps. The only difference is the RPMs, with the rz28m-vz at 5410 and the
    28d at 7200rpm.

792.1Volrootmir works without the -a flag..SALEM::HARRIS_MThu May 08 1997 15:089
    I'm replying to my own note.

     I've done the volrootmir without the -a flag and its works. Im taking
    that this is the proper way to do this. Is this correct? In looking at
    the volrootmir script all it's doing is a file on the device type and
    comparing the 2 drives, if they are unlike then it fails with the
    previous notes message.

What version of LSM are you running? This was a bug in early 4.0 code
but I thought that it was fixed before it was shipped. RZ28M should
mirror to RZ28*.

    I just ran into this this week too. Since I didn't have the hardware to
    do it differently I just removed the test. It works just fine.
