782.0. "LSM mirror local rz28 and HSZ40" by CSC32::D_MAHDER () Thu Apr 10 1997 23:08

    Mirroring the root volume

    Can we add a HSZ40 (rz28) mirror to an existing local rz28 root volume
    (/, swap, /usr, /var) without too much pain. We have had a hard time
    doing this because of the larger partition size of the local rz28.
    As a workaround we built the root volume on the HSZ40 rz28 first, then
    added the local rz28 as the mirror. Is there another way to do this or
    is our workaround the only way.

    thanks,
    dave mahder

    Hi,

    This is not an LSM problem. When you want to mirror the filesystems
    present on a disk, you need at least the same space on the target
    volume(s).

    A disk connected to an HSZ40 has always a certain number of sectors
    reserved for the HSZ configuration. So your problem is coming from the
    fact a local RZ28 is always greater than an HSZ-connected RZ28.

    You can also change the disklabel of the local RZ28 such that it
    doesn't use more space than the HSZ-RZ28.

    Regards, Manu.
