753.0. "dxlsm, mixed v3.2g and v4.0b systems" by LEXSS1::GINGER (Ron Ginger) Fri Feb 07 1997 13:05

I have a couple 8400's with LSM, running Unix 3.2g
I manage them from my workstation, which I just upgraded to 4.0b

When I try to start dxlsm the small copyright box comes up for a few
seconds, then disspears. The 8400 session shows the following:

    dasd1)/>dxlsm
X Error of failed request: BadFont (invalid Font parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 56 (X_ChangeGC)
Resource id in failed request: 0xc01648f0
Serial number of failed request: 7041
Current serial number in output stream: 7557

I am using CDE, and a very 'vanilla' install on the workstation.

It would seem very likely to me that many customers will want to do the
same thing, as they start to move systems up to v4. Do we test this kind
    of interoperability between versions?

    Any fix for this?

This is a known 'feature' of remote dxlsm running on a
	CDE display ...
The fix is either to copy/edit the dxlsm X11 resource file
on the CDE system and to use another (fixed) font.
Or to start dxlsm with the option -fn fixed .
