3890.0. "MCC-E-NOPARAMLIST software logic error with NODE4 alarm" by CUJO::HILL (Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident) Mon Oct 12 1992 02:46

I have the following alarm rule set up to poll all NODE4's in a domain:

    	(NODE4 * CIRCUIT * SUBSTATE <> NONE, AT EVERY 00:10:00)

I received the following error after 110 evaluations of the rule:

Software logic error detected<EOS>%MCC-E-NOPARAMLIST, no parameter
list was supplied with this ILV buffer

    VMS 5.5-1, DECmcc V1.2.0, VAXstation 3100 Model 38

    Any ideas?

is this reproducible? can you tell which node4 was being evaluated?
how many node4 entities are in the domain?

could you please try the request at FCL (without alarms) to see if we
    can reproduce it?

    mcc> show node4 * circ * substate, in domain d1, at every 00:10:00

it could be that while the information was being gathered, an error
occured (eg - link lost) and the response buffer was filled out
    incorrectly.

Greetings,

Deja Vu, I've been here before. Note 3322. The note was not answered but Daryl
was good enough to pay a personal visit to take a look. I'm not sure what the
status of Daryl's work has led him but here is the summary. This seems to happen
with the SSB kit when there are lots of nodes adjacent to the router. When you
use the "circuit * substate" the DNA4 AM gets all the adjacencies and it doesn't
like a few hundred. I went back to the T1.2.7 DNA4_AM exe.

best regards,
brad...
