3836.0. "notification stops displaying alarms" by COL01::LUNT () Wed Sep 30 1992 20:11

    Hello all,

Recently due to a Router problem we have been getting
lots of DECmcc alarms. After a while DECmcc notification,
however, stops displaying them. For example over the
weekend I got over 300 mails, and only 59 alarms in my
notification window. No Filtering is set, the notification
limit is 500. After exiting and reentering DECmcc I started
receiving my alarms again. This problem has been occcuring
rather often recently. Can anyone give me any tips on
where to start looking for my problem? Has anyone else
    experienced this?

User and System Parameters have all been checked against
    the release note recommendations.

Thanks for any info or insight,

    Julie Ann

What OS? What version of the software?

Any error messages at all, either on the DECterm
that IMPM was started from or as popup message boxes?

Bring up the Notify Requests window and see what
the status of the requests are. Double-click on a
request to get a detail box which, if there was
an error, will have a "Show Error" button next to the
status field.

Any correlation between pausing your workstation session
and notifications stopping?

Are you running Motif V1.1.3?

DECmcc V1.2 SSB on VMS 5.5 (VAX 4000/500)

Once I got the message "one or more events has been lost for domain DM.WAN"
I saw this one morning after resuming the pause session. On this morning
all alarms were not registered in the Notification window.

This (dm.wan), by the way, is not the domain where the node-alarm-domain
(.eu.by.byl.mpr_36)
is that was receiving every 15 minutes an alarm. But this node is also
a member of the domain (dm.wan) and has it's events sinked to my node.
(this doesn't work so well either, but that is another topic)

This domain ( dm.wan ) contains all of our routers for recording
purposes and has notify request on node4 * all events.

I haven't seen this "Show error" button at all.

Perhaps,

The last couple of days after resuming my pause session MCC was crashed with
the following:

day 1:

%CMA-F-EXCCOP, exception raised; VMS condition code follows
-system-f-accvio, access violation, reason mask=00, virtual address=.....

day 2:

%CMA-F-EXCCOP, exception raised; VMS condition code follows
-system-f-accvio, access violation, reason mask=01, virtual address=.....

>Are you running Motif V1.1.3?
No, Motif V1.0
