3733.0. "Documentation bug report (V1.2)" by CONTRA::PMCVAY (Valuing Diverse Enterprise Empowerment) Mon Sep 14 1992 17:27

Don't know if this is the place for these, but...

Here's some very minor things I've run into under V1.2:

    1. OPENING A DOMAIN. Most other windows products come up with a list
of default items in their OPEN menu. The OPEN DOMAIN window requires a
specific selection of the FILTER button. I'd recommend that FILTER be
on by default, so the user gets an initial list of domains to pick
    from.

    2. The online documentation has two problems:

        a. Format error: The Table of Contents in the bookreader versions
"hide" chapter labels under subtitles. In some books, they are
under Preface, and in others they are under the Copyright page.

        b. Extra pages are inserted in front of some of the chapters in the
postscript copies, so double-sided pages do not print on the
           correct side.

    3. The HELP has two minor problems:

        a. minor wordwrap format error in "Tutorial Alarms Walkthrough Create"
on a VT100. The margins on the left wrap abnormally.

        b. From "Tutorial Notification Getting_Started": I quote without
           comment:

To make use of Notification Services in DECmcc, from the Iconic Map
interface nothing required. Notification Will be automatically
started on your behalf, any enabled Rule that fires will cause
color/icon bell change on your Map.

From the FCL you must enter the NOTIFY command to initiate
notification services. See ENTITY DOMAIN NOTIFY for more information.

    4. "Remote Node" should be defined in the Introduction Glossary.

3733.1Alarms and Standards severity levelsCONTRA::PMCVAYValuing Diverse Enterprise EmpowermentWed Sep 23 1992 11:464
The alarms and notifications lists the severity levels that can be
assigned; WARNING, MINOR, MAJOR, etc. but does not define them anywhere
that I can discover. The only references are to "OSI standards". I'd
recommend including them, at least in the glossaries.
