3663.0. "Alarm rules w/multiple complex expressions?" by FOUR62::LICAUSE (Al Licause (338-5661)) Tue Sep 01 1992 17:38

I've been asked by a customer as to the extent of our complex rule statement
capabilities and I've seen reference in old notes (303) that indicate that
it was not available in V1.1.

Can anyone tell me if something like:

NODE4 * MAX ADDRESS < 100 & MAX AREA < 50

Would be concidered to be a valid expression?

If so, are there any limitations on numbers of expressions?

Any limitations on entity catagories?

This particular customer is an ip shop and will be interested in comparing
muliple MIB variables.

Sorry, but they don't have specific cases.....their only guidance is a rough
estimate of what a government contract hints at.

Any help appreciated.

That's be nice, but unfortunately the Alarms FM can't handle AND or OR multiple
conditions... I.e. there is no "complex rule" support.

thanks very much for the quick reply.

Unfortunate as it is, it would be interesting to know if such a capability
is available from any other vendor.

The capability sounds nice, but don't really know if it is practicle.

I suspect similar data gathering could be accomplished through command
procedures though.
