3584.0. "Floating Arithmetic divide by zero errors" by ENDTMS::CZARNECKI (Rich Czarnecki 566-4818 Gal. 6:7-8) Tue Aug 18 1992 16:38

    I had the following problem yesterday with DECmcc/VMS 5.5/Motif on a
    VAXstation 4000-60. Using the Phase IV autoconfigutation application
    to discover/register nodes, the application would terminate with a
    floating arithmetic divide by zero fault. This was consistent whether
    I used the entire 225+ node network or just terminated on myself and
    found one node. Is VMS 5.5 having a problem? Motif? DECmcc?

QAR 3313 reports this same problem. There is no answer yet.
3584.2Seems ok w/DECwindowsENDTMS::CZARNECKIRich Czarnecki 566-4818 Gal. 6:7-8Tue Aug 18 1992 18:185
    I duplicated the same environment on my 3100-48, but I am using
    DECwindows rather than Motif. This problem doesn't occur under these
    conditions.  Motif????

    	BTW...note 3456/QAR 3313=exact problem I am seeing.
3584.3Update to basenoteENDTMS::CZARNECKIRich Czarnecki DTN 566-4818 Ps. 1:1Tue Sep 22 1992 17:0014
    As a follow up to the original problem:

    	Re-installed VMS 5.5-1 and DECwindows (rather than DW-Motif).
    	DECmcc reacts exactly the same way. By the way, the platform
    	is a dedicated VAXstation 4000-60 with 2 RZ25's and 32 meg of
    	memory. DECmcc is the only application running on the system.

    	As this _was_ a demo site, both the prospective customer AND us
    	DEC'ies are concerned about progress toward a fix. As a last
    	resort, I am going to re-install DECmcc BMS from my own known
    	good distribution tapes, just to rule out a hack in the tapes.
    	Then....?

3584.4Make it a Level 1 routerENDTMS::CZARNECKIRich Czarnecki DTN 566-4818 Ps. 1:1Fri Sep 25 1992 23:2311
After much 'fiddling' around with VMS versions/Motif,
etc., a co-worker of mine mentioned something about
making the node which runs DECmcc into a level 1 router.

PRESTO!

Just changing that caused it to work.

	Interesting??
