3275.0. "Novell IPX Support" by ODIXIE::HARRISKE (Triathlete) Tue Jun 30 1992 14:36

    I know this question has been asked already, but there were no answers.

    1. Does DEC have an Access Module that will manage Novell NETware LAN,
       that runs under the DECmcc/VMS (V1.1, or 1.2)?

    2. Does DEC have an Access Module that will run under DECmcc/ULTRIX
        V1.2, that will support a SynOtpics (UTP) Based, Token Ring Novell
    	NETware (IPX) LAN?

    Any information would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Ken

3275.1Help me to help you!ANNECY::KIRKHAMPete Kirkham @AEOWed Jul 01 1992 09:087
    We here in Annecy have proposed this AM and I'm working with the NAS
    system mgt group (Poul Nielsen) to determine what functionality we need
    to offer and whether there's a business case for doing it. Any
    information which you can supply to help with one or the other would be
    appreciated.

3275.2More requests for Novell & IPXMORO::MAUTZ_RINetworks>=DECnetWed Jul 01 1992 20:308
    I do MCC Director demos on occassion (2-3 per month) and I would
    estimate the 50% or more of the customers that come in for the
    demos ask if we can do Novell IPX. The customer I had in yesterday
    said that his 3 primary protocols were DECnet, IP, and Novell IPX!

3275.3IPX AM Needed ASAPODIXIE::HARRISKETriathleteTue Jul 07 1992 13:4210
    We need this AM ASAP!!! Greater than 50% of my customers have
    Novell (IPX) LAN's.

    Customers want to be able to manage these LAN's from DECmcc. I have
    lost sales because DEC cannot fulfill this need.

Hi,

it's the same with our customers. Novell has to be high priority. My ratings
would be like

	DECnet
	SNMP
	SNA
	Novell

These are the main protocols we HAVE to support.

3275.6Need it nowTROOA::LEONGThu Jul 16 1992 14:188
Ability to manange IPX has been one of the consistent request from my
customers. I have one here in Toronto who has volunteered to call any
person in Digital (if we would provide him with a name and phone number)
to discuss this issue. Anyone want to talk with this customer ?

3275.7there's opportunity here !!CGOOA::KLIPPENSTEINRob Klippenstein - Winterpeg MB. CanadaFri Oct 23 1992 12:0716
                -< Novell IPX Support - top priority >-

Our major customer is the Provincial Telco. They have a Novell implementation
of about 1500 nodes and desparately need a tool to manage them. We've risen
to the challenge of SNA management and virually all their other requirements.

This is a opportunity that we are on the verge of losing.

I'm trying to be positive about this, but is there not enough of us out here
to potentially band together and have this functionality developed. (after all
we have the tool kits, Don't we ??)

The DECmcc product set is great. Realizing that Novell has about 63% of the
instal base for LANs, this is truly an untapped market ready for the taking.
