3257.0. "?X25router2000 and DECnet/SNA Gwy-CT?" by TOOK::MCPHERSON (Life is hard. Play short.) Sat Jun 27 1992 02:33

This is may be a very naive question, but I'll ask it anyway:

How much can we *really* manage of an X25router 2000 from DECmcc?
	- Can it be managed *at all* from DECmcc?
	- Do we have to go to NCP to manage the X25 extensions?
	- Can we get any of the x.25-related events that it emits (I
assume they are extensions to DECnet events?

I also need to know the same info about our DECnet/SNA Gateway CT box..

This is part of an RFP I'm trying to help answer and I'm kinda ignorant about
those two components...

Any experts? Your timely input will be much appreciated...

Doug,

I've been working at a customer site with DECmcc that has a large X.25 packet
network and all sites a connected using X25Router 2000 or VAX PSI and DLMs.

The X25 Routers are configured to sent all circuit events to the DECmcc
station. We can monitor and alarm when DLM circuits failed and come back on line.

But as for the ncp commands of SHOW MODULE X25-* (all the PSI commands )
we cannot do thru MCC but have to use ncp.

I have not tried alarming on x25/ncp events (the 7.0-7.11 group).

Also the site has a CT gateway, you cannot manage the CT box only alarm when it
disappears
