3196.0. "%MCC-E-INSEVTPOOLMEM" by MICROW::LANG () Wed Jun 17 1992 13:15

    	We are running 2 AM's with MCC EFT update, on Ultrix. After
    	about 250 iterations of making management requests, both
    	AM's get the following:

    Failure in kernel event receipt. Thread terminating
     %MCC-E-INSEVTPOOLMEM, insufficient event pool memory to post event

    	We must be running out of a resource, but I couldn't tell from
    	the installation notes, or the installation on Ultrix, what we
    	were running out of. Can someone provide more insight?

    	When are these events being posted? Can we disable the posting?

    	The swap space is as follows:
    rock2.tay1.dec.com> /etc/pstat -s
    184312k swap configured
    70796k reserved virtual address space
            31732k used (9408k text, 1376k smem)
            152580k free, 968k wasted, 0k missingDECmcc (T1.2.7)

3196.1Install guide?TOOK::MINTZErik Mintz, dtn 226-5033Wed Jun 17 1992 18:127
Did you follow the installation guide instructions for reconfiguring
shared memory and semaphores on the system (and rebuild the
ULTRIX kernel after making the adjustments?)

PS - Also being addressed off line.
3196.2what posting is occuring?MICROW::LANGWed Jun 17 1992 21:048

    	We think so, but we're double checking. Can you give us
    	some background on what the message means? When is the
    	logging occurring? Do we need to periodically clean out
    	a log file?

    			thanks,

3196.3Me, tooMICROW::SEVIGNYPoultry-flavored toothpaste?Thu Aug 06 1992 13:1315

    I, too am getting the error described in .0.

    I examined the shared memory and semaphore usage, and it appears to be
    within the bounds of the system.

    This is what I get:

    rock2.tay1.dec.com!sevigny> manage
    DECmcc (T1.2.7)

    MCC> Failure in kernel event receipt. Thread terminating
     %MCC-E-INSEVTPOOLMEM, insufficient event pool memory to post event

3196.4UpgradeTOOK::MINTZErik Mintz, dtn 226-5033Thu Aug 06 1992 15:295
There have been a number of fixes to the event handling code since
T1.2.7. I would suggest that you upgrade to the SSB kit.

    We will upgrade tomorrow and see if that takes care of it.

    Thanks, and we'll let you know the outcome...
