3104.0. "TSAM , SNMP and DS300" by MEO78B::FINCH () Sat May 30 1992 08:38

    I want to manage Decserver 300s over a multiprotocol router backbone.
    I am not up on what the TSAM will give me over a routered link (if
    anything).
    So could you tell me if in order to manage these servers do I use the
    TSAM which seems to have a SNMP child entity (is that right ?) or do I use
    the TCP/IP am.

    Thanks for your help,
    Jill

3104.1SNMP for wide areaTOOK::CASSIDYLinda, LKG2-2/BB10, DTN 226-7270Mon Jun 01 1992 13:569
TSAM is limited to the extended local area only. For wide area you will need
to go to SNMP. The current DS300 does not support SNMP sets, just shows. A
future release of the DS300 software will have the sets.

The SNMP entity shown in the TSAM is a little misleading - it is only capable
of configuring the SNMP settings on the box, controlling communities and traps.
It is not a way to use SNMP.
