3021.0. "BRIDGE STATISTC V1.1" by ZUR01::SCHNEIDERR () Tue May 19 1992 07:39

Hello,

When we do a show statistc on a ethernetline on a bridge 610 we get

Multicast Utilisation 340.69 Percent
Network Utilisation 343.22 Percent

Thats impossible and seens that something is wrong, isn't it? What do we do
wrong?

Hi Roland,

Can you do the following commands on the bridge in question and post
the results here.

Thanks,

Bob

mcc>show bridge <bridge_name> firmware version
mcc>show bridge <bridge_name> software version

mcc>show mcc 0 bridge_am all char
mcc>show mcc 0 pa all char

Hello,

Here the output you asked for:

MCC> show bridge firmware version -->	Firmware Version = V2.9.0

MCC> show bridge siftware version -->	SOFTWARE VERSION = V1.1.0

MCC> show mcc 0 bridge_am all char
Component Identification = "DECmcc Bridge AM"
		       Component Version = V1.2.0

MCC> show mcc 0 pa all char
		       Component Version = V1.1.0
Component Identification = "DECmcc PA FM"

I hope this helps you. Just to compleate all infos. We often have problems to
access the bridges. Then we get the message "Communication with target has been
interrupted". But I think this has nothing to do with the percent statistic
problem.

The message you are getting is a timeout. Does your network have
    unusually high traffic?

The statistic numbers you are getting need to be fixed. Someone from
the PA team should post the formulas that are used to calculate
Multicast Utilization and Network Utilization and we can see what
    numbers the bridge is providing.

I also noticed a spelling error in the latest PA code I'm running:

                      Multicast Throuhghput = 98.91 Percent

This should be fixed for SSB.

Hi Roland,

It looks like you are at the right firmware level. Could you please post
the following so I can investigate further:

mcc>show bridge <bridge_name> line 2 all counters
mcc>show bridge <bridge_name> line 2 all statistics

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Roland,

From the data you posted it looks like the problem is in the PA FM as
opposed to the Bridge AM or bridge firmware. The good news is that
this seems to work fine on the DB 610 in V1.2.

If you can't wait for V1.2 then talk to Anwar (TOOK::ANWARUDDIN).
He is the project leader for the PA FM.

Bob
