2922.0. "CHIPCOM MIB definition files - pls clarify" by HGOVC::LILLIANTANG () Mon May 04 1992 11:03

    Found the CHIPCOM private MIBs in the MCC_COMMON directory.
    please verify if CHIPCOM_HUB21_MMIBDEF.TXT refers to the 5100 Mgt
    module v2.1? WHat about CHIPCOM_HUB3_BRG_10BT_MIBDEF (bridge?) and
    CHIPCOM_MIBDEF.TXT? Are there any private extensions available
    for the router and bridge modules? Thanks
    Lillian

2922.1CHIPCOM MIBs : EMM 2.1 vs EMM 3.0ZTOIS1::VISTARenato VISTA, SIS Strasbourg, FranceTue May 05 1992 13:4319

    Hi Lillian,

    CHIPCOM_MIBDEF.TXT is the private MIB corresponding to CHIPCOM EMM
    module V2.1 (this file is in the DECmcc/TCPIPAM V1.1 kit for BMS V1.1 on
    VMS platform, and also in the DECmcc/BMS T1.2.4 field test kit for
    Ultrix/RISC platform. With the new kit (ie DECmcc/BMS T1.2.7 for
    ULTRIX/RISC environment, new MIBs have been added : for CHIPCOM,
    CHIPCOM_HUB21_MIBDEF.TXT is the same as the previous
    CHIPCOM_MIBDEF.TXT, and CHIPCOM_HUB3_BRG_10BT_MIBDEF.TXT is a MIB
    corresponding to CHIPCOM EMM module V3.0. That new MIB now allows to
    manage bridge modules (which have their own SNMP agents) and several
    new modules (especially Token Ring modules and Terminal Server
    modules).

    Renato,

       How can I determine what the current revision level of the
     SNMP agent(s) are on my CHIPCOM hubs and module cards?

    Thanks,

2922.3Firmware/SNMP Agent version...ZTOIS1::VISTARenato VISTA, SIS Strasbourg, FranceTue May 19 1992 15:0530

    Hi Bob,

    The current version of SNMP agent can be got by the following command :

    CHIPCOM>show device

    That command is done (of course) on a VTxxx connected to the
    RS232_serial port of the EMM (Ethernet Management Module). The "Flash
    EPROM version" field gives 2.1 or 3.0.

    You can also get this version via MIB II variables (MCC's attributes):

    MCC>show snmp <chipcom_hub> all characteristics

    where sysDescr speaks about BASIC or ADVANCED SNMP agent, if the SNMP
    agent version is 3.0 (the latest firmware), or no specific SNMP agent
    version if this is an EMM V2.1 agent.

    Regards,
    Renato

    PS : the SHOW DEVICE chipcom command done on a 5102B-EE Ethernet Bridge
    Module (firmware V2.0) gives also a SNMP specific agent version for
    that kind of module...

    Hi,
    	I've got CHIPCOM concentrators with both versions of EMM some at
    3.0 some at 2.x can I use CHIPCOM_HUB3_BRG_10BT_MIBDEF.TXT with both?
