2838.0. "IMPM sanity check failure." by SUBWAY::REILLY (Mike Reilly - New York Bank District) Thu Apr 23 1992 18:10

Using EFT 1.2.7 on Ultrix 4.2 I am seeing the following error in the
IMPM . A number of popups appears with the following message:

Notify Request 1 for domain .domain.world encountered an exception

Unexpected condition returned to Notification PM

MCC Routine Error: %MCC-E-RECEIVEERROR, error trying to
    			receive a packet.

At the same time the DECterm window used to invoke DECmcc logs the
    following message many times:

Disaster IPC server unmarshall input sanity check failure

If I acknowledge the pop-up messages I can continue working.

At the time these messages were seen, I was just navigating between
    a few domains.

The only time we have seen this type of message is when someone
mixes executables from two different baselevels.
Might you have any pre-T1.2.7 executables still on the system?
Or perhaps some DECmcc process (an event sink?) was running
during an upgrade?

I just did an ls -l on the /usr/mcc/mmexe and /usr/mcc/mcc_system
directories and all executables were created at installation time.

What about the second question:

>Or perhaps some DECmcc process (an event sink?) was running
>during an upgrade?

Is there any possibility of that? If you can, can you either kill every
mcc process on the system (mcc_kill won't do it all) or just reboot and
let us know if the problem persists.

if you're using the assett udm, try turning it off and reproducing the
problem, and please let us know if this has any impact.
