2691.0. "mcc_da_ routines doc ?" by KETJE::VDKERCKHOVE (Never say NEVER) Mon Apr 06 1992 08:42

Hi,

The mcc_da_ routines are not documented in the SRM, why not ?

Who can provide me with reference documentation ?

I want to make use of the mcc_da_ routines in a customer project,
Any particular reason why I should NOT use them in a customer project ?

    They were written back when Phase IV DECnet on VMS only was thought to
    be the only generic low-level networking interface needed by AMs.
    Obviously the world has changed. There are now so many combinations
    of transports and platforms that it is best left to each AM to
    implement.

Hm,

Can we use them in customer projects and where are they documented ?

    They are gone. If you need a phase IV VMS decnet interface, use the
    standard QIO interface (you will notice that the mcc_da interface was
    a *very* thin wrapper over the QIO interface).

    And as I stated earlier, if you need any other decnet combination
    (Phase V, Ultrix), the mcc_da routines weren't applicable anyway.
