2687.0. "Which TCP/IP product to downline load Synoptics hubs" by RADBOX::ANDERSON () Fri Apr 03 1992 20:43

	I have a customer that has just purchased DECmcc and the SNMP AM
	to manage their synoptics hubs. The only problem we have is that
	they would like to downline load the hubs from the DECmcc management
	workstation (they dont have any UNIX systems). To accomplish this we
	need to support TFTP to get the load image to the hubs. Currently
	UCX does not support this function nor will is support it in 2.0.

	I understand that TGV Multinet and Wollongong WIN/TCP have TFTP support
	and they should both work with DECmcc. Does anyone out there have any
	experience with loading the synoptics hubs with either TGV or Wollongong
	and which one would you recomend?

	Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

2687.1TFTP requirementSKIBUM::GASSMANTue Apr 07 1992 00:595
    This is the second major request for TFTP I've heard of in the past two
    weeks. Cisco was the other case. Sounds like something we need to
    build into mcc for the network business.

2687.2TFTP on VAX please !HOO78C::TURHANThu Apr 09 1992 12:5012

    Hi,

    I am glad that this topic came to stage again. I am the other one
    waiting for a solution to TFTP. I tried the connection notes and the
    prod. man. for ucx but they seem to be very silent. So a lot of tries
    but no answer.

    I'll appreciate a lot if anybody can help to address this problem.

2687.3Multinet being used at several FT sites.DANZO::CARRFri Apr 10 1992 14:096
	There are currently at least three Field test sites using T1.2 with
TGV Multinet. We are also running Multinet here in our lab. Multinet does
support TFTP.

	We haven't tried using Wollongong's WIN/TCP product with T1.2.
2687.4WIN/TCP problemSALISH::SAFRAN_ROMon Apr 27 1992 19:1117
    I just installed Wollongong's WIN/TCP on a VS4000/60 that is running
    BMS 1.2.6. SNMP worked fine using UCX. After relinking the SNMP AM
    error free, using the instructions in the release notes, I now
    get the following error when tring to access an ACC router.

    Internet Communications Device Error

    %C-F-EBADF, bad file number

    Any ideas? I can ping the router and ftp to myself. I'm going to have
    the customer try to ftp from a Unix box and ping our workstation.

    I'm going to call Wollongong as well.

    Thanks in advance,
    Bob

2687.6Another request for TFTPFRSOLD::ORCHIS::SYSTEMInformation, that's all I need...Thu Jun 04 1992 17:4216
Hi all,

I have an important customer here in Gemany (DG Bank) who is looking for TFTP
support for VAX/VMS to downline-load his network equipment. Does TGV work as
expected? Do we sell TGV in Germany? If yes (both answers :-), where do I get
more information?

This request is pretty urgent, as we are in the "half final", together with 5
other companies and need as much functionality as possible.

Thanx in advance and see ya
