2517.0. "X1.2-15 Alarms & export problems" by KADOR::KADOR::DARMON (Le Boogaloup) Mon Mar 09 1992 12:06

Configuration:

VAX6410 / 64mb / VMS5.4-3
MCC X1.2.15

As in note 1994, I'm experiencing what I think are memory problems
with alarms and exporting.

As long as I don't enable over about half a dozen alarms and exporting,
every thing is fine.

But as I have the need for about 25 export request and over 100 alarms,
things get "stuck".

	Exporting:

No export will take place (counters stay at 0). The
Background exporter is still there, and the status will
be "ACTIVE". No export failure and no info in the background
	logfile.

	Alarms:

The alarms will run fine until the first exception and
then none will trigger anymore but the state will be
"ENABLED" and substate will be "RUNNING". Sometimes,
the exception comes with an ACCVIO. The rule causing
the problem is never the same one.

The exception will generate the following messages:

	Inconic map:

	%MCC-E-INV_DNSIDENT, specified identifier attribute is
	not valid for instance lookup

	Mail message:

Rule name: MCC 0 ALARMS RULE VALBONNE_GEO-VBO_IN_CONGESTION
    Domain: Domain GEOMCC:.MCC.DOMAIN.DNA4
  Occurred at: 9-MAR-1992 14:46:40.16
     Category: Statistic: Circuit congestion
  Description: VALBONNE Congestion Inbound (GEO-VBO:384)
     Severity: Indeterminate

   Expression: (NODE4 GVACOP CIRCUIT SYN-1	inbound utilization > 70,
AT EVERY 0:30, for start -00:00 DURATION 0:25)
    Exception: Software logic error detected
                   %MCC-S-SPECIALIZED_EXC, success with management
		   module-specific exception reply

All exports and alarms are for NODE4 line & circuits.

  Greg,

Some problems in Alarms processing of Exceptions have been found and should
be fixed in the x1.2.17 OR x1.2.18 baselevels. I am not sure if it will fix
all of your problems, but the ACCVIO you had described was seen and these
latest fixes should take care of the problem.
