2216.0. "MCC ALARMS INTERFACE WITH LIEBERT SITESCAN?" by SUBWAY::AMMU () Wed Jan 29 1992 11:39

I know MCC ALARMS with DECALERT.

My customer has recently moved datacenter. They have sitescan,
which monitors the site (ie. A/C, HALON , fire etc). This is
supplied by a company (LIEBERT) the standard power and A/C GEAR
supplier. It has PC and a MUX , which get all the outputs from
sensors, and process and then dialout to OHIO , the sitescan
HQ, if there are any alarms and they will call back the datacenter.
Customer would like to know if thereis any possiblity DECMCC interfaces
	with SITESCAN.

	*PS

I have seen LIEBERT A/C , UPS systems virtually in every data
center I visited. May be the above idea is worth looking into.

    Ammu,
Contact John Martineau at DTN 264-4278 and let him know your
customers requirements. He is the product manager for the REMS
product and is planning on developing a DECmcc interface. This is
also an area where the proposed ASCII AM may be of help.

I can imagine a DECmcc Iconic Map based drawing of a datacenter,
with each of the environmental monitoring probes represented by an
icon. Alarm rules are set which trigger at various environmental
set points. We could export the status of the probes every five
minutes and produce monthly reports which would be used to determine
if some of the probes are drifting and need recalibration. If we
integrate the card key access systems for the building as well then we
could fire alarms rules based on errors at the doors etc. I'll bet
that just this access module layered on the DECmcc director would
sell, especially if it were sold with pre-configured
hardware/software. Hell, maybe companies like Liebert would resell
    it for us.
