2138.0. "Trouble with ALARMS on IP/SNMP Entities" by SUBWAY::YANNIOS () Fri Jan 17 1992 19:42

Various errors occur when trying to define rules for SNMP based
    events.

    (0) Using "GETEVENT snmp node Any Events" is not accepted yet Any
Events is presented as an option when issuing "?" to the getevent
    command.

    (1) On the first attempt, when using the IMPM to define a rule to detect
SNMP LinkDown or LinkUp events on a specific IP node, I get the
    following error:

    "Software Logic error detected"

If I acknowledge this error and continue on with something else, the
message will keep popping back up. IMPM becomes unusable.

Another MCC session was runing in DCL mode at the time but was just
    in prompt mode.

    (2) After exiting MCC in (1) and restarting the IMPM again in a
second attempt to define a SNMP occurs rule. On the second attempt,
MCC IMPM hangs and must be terminated with Control/Y at the DCL
command line it was invoked on.

    (3) Going back to MCC DCL mode, issuing the "getevent snmp nodename
linkDown" command is accepted. Dropping that node from the network
does not generate any event....The command can only be terminated
    with Control/Y.

Monitoring the SNMP Event listener process (The Process with No

There were several problems with SNMP AM to SNMP event sink communication that
were cleaned up subsequent to FT submission. These changes should make snmp
events processing much more reliable.

getevent snmp * any events is now valid.
