2103.0. "domain control in decnet autoconfig" by NSCRUE::KEANE (U.S. NIS Service Development and Delivery) Tue Jan 14 1992 13:23

  Hi,

Is there any way in the DECnet autoconfig process to control the number of
nodes that are placed in a domain. I'm looking for equivalent functionality to
the host-domainsize parameter in the IP auotconfig.

 Thanks,
 Scott

Sorry Scot, that information is hard coded in the source code. But if
you strongly feel we should make this parameter available to the user
we will be glad to put it on our wish list!

In the spirit of similar function of MSU and MCC - the parameter should
be put in. MSU allows a maximum number of entities per domain to be
defined before autotopology runs. Those we convert from MSU to MCC
will probably expect to see it.

2103.3yes, it needs to be thereNSCRUE::KEANEU.S. NIS Service Development and DeliveryThu Jan 16 1992 18:1312
Yes the ability to set the number of nodes in a domain should be there.

Also, I would like to see an option added so that an address range could
be defined. The main menu would provide an option to only run
autopology option where a range is defined by the user, such as nodes 8.1
through 8.100. It would probably make sense to keep the range definition within
one area or in the case of a multi-area range just let the user know that
necessary routers outside the range will be added to the map so that it shows
a complete depiction.

re .2, Bill, MSU could make use of this functionality also.
2103.4Address range to limit the scope of the Autoconfiguration DECnet and IP too.F104::HERNANPeter Hernan Western RNCWed Feb 12 1992 18:158

I second the ability to specify an address range to limit the scope of the
Autoconfiguration.

This should be done for IP and OSI NSAPs as well.
