2053.0. "DECmcc(EFT1.2) Graph Utility Error" by SUBWAY::YANNIOS () Wed Jan 08 1992 19:44

    If a user selects a Phase IV node and performs the Graph Operation
    requesting plots for Bytes Sent and Bytes Received, the DECmcc Graph
    comes up running, but stops within a minute. When the user clicks on
    the Cancel Button, the following error happens at the DCL command
    line where DECmcc was originally invoked:

    $ mcc
    %Thread 13 terminating with exception:
    %SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=00, virtual
    address=00000000, PC=201C0000, PSL=00CD55CC

    MCC hangs at this point and must be termnated with Control-Y.

    If, instaead, one of the nodes's circuits is selected and graphs of
    transit packets sent and received and bytes sent and received are
    performed, DECmcc graph reports statistics normally but when the
    user wishes to cancel the graph utility, the user gets the same
    error when clicking on the Cancel button.

2053.1MB1 on Stickman to popup error messageTOOK::A_MOOREThu Jan 09 1992 11:1519
Nick,

Thanks for being clear and specific in reporting the problem.

In my enviroment, the graph of User Bytes Sent and User Bytes Received for NODE4
did not stop or accvio on cancel. So we have have to dig deeper find this.

1. What did the stick man figure look like when the graph stopped?

2. Was it shrugging or did it have its hands on its head?

3. If you would MB1 ( mouse button 1) over the stick man figure, a message window
   of what error will popup. What is the message?

4. Did any small circles appear indicating data gaps? Was any data returned?

5. Did a show command of same data return correctly? (SHOW NODE4 xx All Counter)

2053.2Happens only on VMS 5.4-3TAVIS::PERETZThu Jan 09 1992 12:586
We had a similar problem (ACCVIO when trying to cancel the graph and then
you need control Y to exit DECmcc) here in Israel. We found that the problem
appeared only on VMS 5.4-3. It does not happen on version 5.4-2 or 1.
Maybe you should check in this direction.

2053.3Stickman ShruggedSUBWAY::YANNIOSThu Jan 09 1992 13:2614
    Al,

    After a minute, the stickman goes from running to shrugging and the
    graph stops. Inside the graph appeared a circle at the first point
    plotted. There was no data after that. Clicking on the stickman
    displayed:

    "DECmcc Message: entity was found, but the requested data does not
    exist"

    When Cancel is depressed, the Thread 13 termination occurs.

So we have another confirmation that the problem is only at VMS version

2053.7problem also on 5.4-2!!COL01::LUNTWed Jan 15 1992 09:028
Hello,

	We also have been experiencing these problems with the Graph
feature of MCC. There are, however, a couple of times where it is
mentioned that this problem is only on 5.4-3. Well we are running
5.4-2.

	Greetings, Uwe Welzel and Julie Ann Lunt
2053.8Same problem even with resources increasedCUJO::HILLDan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer ResidentWed Jan 15 1992 14:236
    As requested, I increased PQL_MWSEXTENT and checked as many other
    sysgen/UAF parameters as I could think of. Still same problem.

    Also, I have this problem when graphing only ONE counter item.
