2047.0. "Mult Criteria & Logs" by BONNET::DENIS (michel Denis) Wed Jan 08 1992 05:25

The French PTT, France Telecom, is conducting an evaluation of
DECmcc for their various networks. They have started developping
a prototype access module for the monitoring of "public leased lines"
    at customer premises.

    Some questions they have today:

1- with the "ICONIC MAP", what are the "limitations" of entities selection,
e.g. is is possible to do the same as:

      SHOW LINES * WITH SPEED=9600 AND TYPE=LEASED AND CUSTOMER=DIGITAL

i.e. finding lines that satisfy all criteria at the same time

    1'- same with "OR" conditions

    1''- same with mixed "AND"/"OR"/"NOT"

2- what is the best way to do (non-OSI) Alarm Events logging, and be
able to look at the logs, with multiple search criteria (fields,
      time,..) ?

Thank you in advance for a QUICK response...

Michel,

For v1.2, there is no "with" filtering in the Iconic Map.

    As to your second question:

    > 2- what is the best way to do (non-OSI) Alarm Events logging, and be
    > able to look at the logs, with multiple search criteria (fields,
    > time,..) ?

The new notification displays from the iconic map interafce (all
functions except filtering also available through the FCL) provide a
full range of filtering functions, as well as the ability to request
any type of events. From the applications menu select the notification
application. From the notification display use the requests button to
bring up a list of the currently outstanding notify requests. From here
you can create a new notify request for any entity or combination of
entity on any events or partitions that interest you.

Unluckily the logging function did not make it into the field test kit,
but is scheduled to be in the final product.

The filtering (search) criteria is fairly extensive, let me know if you
have questions with it after you have taken a look at the filters
    window.
